Have you switched from Norton Antivirus to a different anti-virus software and got better results?
Dre D asked:
I’ve heard from a lot of people that Norton Antivirus is a very “heavyweight” antivirus program; it slows down your computer a lot. Has anybody switched anti-virus programs and experienced this while having good protection from viruses?

Norton SUCKS.
Use McAfee, it is more reliable and has never let me down.

norton never really impressed me with it’s “security”. I use a few random ones from download.com that i verified to be safe from spyware

NOD32 is very light and has great protection, but the latest version of Norton Antivirus is lighter compared to the older versions. Plus i like the interface better than anything else.

…”Norton” is good, it will get the “job” done but your computer will “crawl”… McAfee puts Norton back in the “stone-age”…

Yes. Norton is a hog (and it really screwed up my computer when I uninstalled it, so be careful). I now use Prevx and like it much better.

Yes.
I switched from Norton to McAfee and it slowed my computer and I got a virus.
I then went to Office Depot and purchased AVG 7.5 Antivirus and Anti-Spyware.
It doesnt use up your systems resources like other anti virus products.
Its really good.

Yes, I switched from Norton Internet Security with Norton Antivirus, uninstalled it, then installed Windows Live OneCare. It works great! It uses about 1-5% of your system memory. It includes a startup cleaner, printer sharing, and secure Wi-fi.

All my clients are using AVG from, this has never let any of them down. It is very light weight but very effective. They also have free anti-spyware and anti-rootkit scanners.

i Dont know about heavy weight but the do not update fast enough and virus’s get through. i had it on my Vaio and it crashed because noton’s/mcafee suck. i discontuned norton’s and been with AVG antivirus and it up dates daily and have had it for a year and no problems yet .it scans emails.websites everything on its own then lets you know if any was found the it puts it into a virus vault to contain it and then you just delete them.you can try the free dowload but it dont give you maxium protection so i paid for it on 3 computers.
